Movie Magic
MGM studios have been producing quality films to entertain folks in North America and abroad. Discover the secrets behind the scenes.
Orlando car rental suggests you explore the many attractions, from the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
Step into the silver screen world when you come to MGM studios.
On Hollywood Blvd, you'll find Sorcerer Mickey Hat that stands 100 feet tall. Opened in September 2001, this attraction commemorates the 100 years of Disney magic. The hat is featured in the animated classic Fantasia.
If you're looking for something a little more challenging and frightening, Orlando car rental suggests the Twilight Zone of Terror. Those who have a fear of heights, are afraid of the dark or don't like being cooped up in small spaces should not go. You'll plunge 13 stories in a rickety old "freight elevator."
Honey I Shrunk the Kids
This attraction is a oversized playground for kids to explore. They'll have a blast climbing through 30 foot tall blades of "grass" and trying some games along the way. You'll find this attraction on the Streets of America.
Lights, Motors, Action!
This is the extreme stunt show opened in May 2005. Extreme is the key word of this attraction. You'll be on the edge of your seat watching the car, motorcycle and watercraft adventure explode before your very eyes.
The Magic of Disney Animation
If you want to explore the behind scenes of animation, Orlando car rental highly recommends the Magic of Disney Animation. After learning about animation and a brief history of the animation studios, visitors will get to create their own character at Animation Academy.
Star Tours
For those Star Wars enthusiasts and fans, Orlando car rental says Star Tours was designed with you in mind. During your simulated flight, you'll see the Death Star. Along the tour, you'll see C3P0 and R2D2.
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Looking for action? Look no further than Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Orlando car rental says if you're 18 or older, you might be chosen as one of the volunteers to participate in this adventure.
Disney's Stars and Motor Cars Parade
This parade made its debut during the 100 Years of Magic Celebration, also Walt Disney's centennial birthday. This parade is fitting because Disney loved parades. As a youth, he followed parades in Kansas City from beginning to end. He incorporated his fondness for parades into a daily tradition at all Disney parks.
Catch the parade where celebrities honor Walt Disney's career in making films. Aladdin and Jasmine, Mickey Mouse, Mary Poppins and Miss Piggy are a few of the celebrities who ride in vintage vehicles for the parade.
See Lilo and Stitch's float that features surf boards and palm trees.
Or be amazed with the Mermaid Unit that showcases Ariel and Sebastian with their under-the-sea friends.
The Stars and Motor Cars Parade that features about 15 cars and three motorcycles lasts about 25 minutes. The parade runs daily in the late afternoon.
Sixty character performers and 18 drivers are showcased in the parade to the musical score orchestrated by Gordon Goodwin. Some good places to watch the parade include:
- the Star Tours gate (start of the parade)
- near Sid Cahuenga's (end of the parade)
Fantasmic!
If you're hoping to catch the 25-minute show with Mickey Mouse acting as the conductor, come early. you'll be engulfed in the many images made famous in Disney films, such as Fantasia, the Lion King and the Little Mermaid.
The Fantasmic! island features one of the highest man-made mountains at Walt Disney World resourt. This structure that stands 59-feet tall is surrounded by a moat that holds 1.9-million-gallons of water.
